Competitions

These are an important part of Society life. Not only can you show what you have been doing, but by listening to judges critiquing your work, talking to other members and seeing other images, you can learn to improve the standard of your entries, understand different techniques etc.

It is helpful to read magazines, go to exhibitions and browse the internet. Our site has many links to interesting photographic topics.

Competition Rules and Awards are explained on the CPS website. If you do not have access to a computer, please ask the Competition Secretary or any other committee member who will be happy to arrange a copy for you.

The hand-in for competition entries is shown in the programme by the symbol (H).
These are then judged and critiqued the following week.

We have 6 league competitions during each season. These are for both slide and prints, based either on an ‘open’ category or ‘natural history’. Please check the syllabus or speak to the Competition Secretary if you require any help.

As the Season 2007/8 begins, we are hoping to set up a monthly Appraisal Group, to be held on a separate evening, for those of you who would like constructive feedback from other members. Please speak to Sheila Davies for further details.

Anything else you need to know??

Do not hesitate to ask any of the officers of CPS. Suggestions to improve our society are always welcome.
