1. The Society shall be known as the Chorley Photographic Society. The Society shall be affiliated to the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union.
2. The object of the Society is to advance the education of the public in the theory and practice of photography as an art.
3. Membership shall be open to the public generally. Membership to include Full Membership, Life Membership and Honorary Membership. The Committee shall have the right for good and sufficient reason to reject an application for membership.
4. The Society shall be administered by a Committee, consisting of President, President Elect, Past President, General Secretary, Treasurer, Competitions Secretary, Syllabus Secretary, Publicity Officer and two Committee Members. All to be elected at the Annual General Meeting.
5. At Committee Meetings a Quorum shall consist of more than half the committee members. Such members to include any co-opted members.
6. The Committee shall have the power to co-opt ordinary members.
7. A Special General Meeting may be convened by the President or President Elect, or at the request of an ‘ordinary member’ on a requisition signed by at least 20 per cent of the membership.
8. The date of the Annual General Meeting shall be during the months of April to June in each year.
9. Notification of proposed amendments and additions to the Society Constitution must be in writing and sent to the General Secretary a minimum of 21 days before an Annual General Meeting.
10. Such proposed amendments or additions to the Society Constitution must be carried by a majority of two-thirds of Members present at the Annual General Meeting.
No amendment would be made which would result in the Society ceasing to be established for exclusively charitable purposes according to the Law of England and Wales. Furthermore, no amendment shall be made to clause 2, this clause and clause 14 without the prior approval.
11. The Financial Year of the Society shall run from 1 April to 31 March. At the close of the Financial Year a Balance Sheet shall be drawn up by the Treasurer and audited. This shall be laid before the club at the Annual general meeting.
12. The Annual Subscription shall be fixed for the following year at the .Annual General Meeting. It shall be payable in advance from the date of the Annual General Meeting.
13. Subscription shall consist of:
Full Membership.
Member and Spouse.
Junior Membership up to age of 16 years.
Senior Citizen.
Unwaged.
Life Membership.
Honorary Membership.
Persons joining after 31 December shall pay 60 per cent of the membership fee.
No person under the age of 18 should hold Office on the Committee.
14. Visitors or intending members are welcome to attend meetings and
shall attend a maximum of three meetings, after which membership shall be taken up.

15. The Society may be dissolved at any time by a resolution passed by a three quarters majority of the members present and voting at an Annual General Meeting of the Society or at a special general meeting called for that purpose. If, upon the dissolution of the Society there remains after the settling of all liabilities any property whatsoever, this shall not be paid to or distributed amongst the members of the Society but shall be given or transferred to such charity or charities established for similar charitable purposes as the Committee shall decide.
